PRESERVING THE CULTURES 1…

The African Cultural Regeneration Institute (ACRI) is based in Kenya and was founded in January 2003 to promote the preservation of African non-material culture. It aims at promoting African culture by way of identifying relevant indigenous cultural values that Africa can use for her own development. ACRI wishes to achieve its objectives by establishing networks together NGOs, Groups, Institutions, Experts and individuals active in safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in accordance with the UNESCO Convention of 2003, which work for the achievement of African rebirth in the spirit of the Charter for African Cultural Renaissance. To that end ACRI established in 2009 the Cultural Network for Kenya - U-NET(K) and aspires to facilitate establishment of similar networks to in the Eastern and Southern Africa region to promote ICH.
