THE MESSIAH? REALLY??

The classical music website Bachtrack has produced some interesting statistics about the world of classical music: the top three busiest orchestras are all in the US – joint third with the NY Phil is the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano. Only one UK orchestra makes the top ten, and that’s not the LSO, the LPO or even the HallĂ©, it’s the Bournemouth Symphony. The busiest ten conductors around the world have an average age of 62. The Messiah is the most performed work. Five of the top ten most performed works are by Beethoven, and though Mozart is the top composer none of his individual works makes the top ten.
