B.C.’s arts and culture scene is in jeopardy of extinction with the continual erosion of provincial government funds, says a leading arts organizer.
B.C. Arts Council cut $20,000 in funding from this September’s Vancouver International Fringe Festival and another $70,000 could be lost when the festival’s contract with B.C. Gaming ends in 2012.
Arts and culture organizations have been slashed to the tune of $20 million from Direct Access gaming grants.
