SO WHAT SKILLS DO WE NEED FOR THE 21st CENTURY?

The Institute of Museum & Library Services (US) has launched its Museums, Libraries, and 21st Century Skills initiative. It has three components: an Online Self-Assessment which analyses an institution’s 21st century strategies and describes next steps for action; a Report which outlines a vision for the role of libraries and museums in the dialogue around learning and 21st century skills and includes case studies of innovative audience engagement and skills practices from across the country; and a Self-Assessment Tool which allows museums and libraries to determine where they fit on the continuum of 21st century skills operations and programming.
