AND THE NEW YORKERS LOVE THEIR FASHION…

New York's Mayor, Michael Bloomberg has announced six initiatives designed to encourage growth in the fashion industry . The programmes will focus on the industrial underpinnings of the creative field, from a fund focused on production financing and connect emerging designers with manufacturers eager to work with new talent, to Designer as Entrepreneur, a "boot camp" to provide designers with business training. Other initiatives include Project Pop-up, a retail competition whose winner will receive mentoring and marketing support to execute their store concept; New York City Fashion Draft, which will pair fashion students with employers looking to hire new talent; Fashion Campus NYC, an educational seminar program; and New Y ork City Fashion Fellows, which will provide mentoring and networking opportunities to 30 "rising stars" in fashion management.
