CULTURAL DIVERSITY ENDORSED IN THE CARRIBEAN…

On 20 September 2010, Trinidad and Tobago ratified the UNESCO Convention on culture and diversity . Over the past three years, the Commonwealth Foundation has worked closely with civil society to increase understanding of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Diversity in the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific. The Foundation partnered with the IFCCD, a leading cultural civil society network, in laying the groundwork for this agreement by co-hosting three regional meetings in Port of Spain in 2007 and, as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, again in 2009.
